Oral Surgeon Plano
You have options to choose from when you walk into our clinic to extract and replace diseased teeth or restore missing teeth. You can make a choice between getting dentures, dental implants, or bridges. Implants are the closest thing that look and feel just like natural teeth.
Teeth in a Day
Teeth in a Day, otherwise known as same-day teeth, are a complete dental implant reconstruction procedure in which all of the diseased teeth are extracted and a newly formed implant is inserted in one day. A traditional implant procedure has a period of up to six months between the implant's placement to the fixing of the permanent crown. This ensures adequate healing time.
The Teeth in a Day treatment is a fast and convenient option. With recent medical advancements, Dallas Oral Surgery Associates can now help you walk out of our clinic with a complete new smile on the same day.
Is a Same Day Implant Better than a Traditional Implant?
Traditional implants involve the extraction of the decaying tooth, followed by a period of four to six months waiting for the implant site to heal completely. Then the insertion of the implant takes place, followed by another four to six months for the implant to stabilize and integrate with the jaw bone before the crown's final placement.
On the other hand, the Teeth in a Day procedure eliminates the waiting period of several months by allowing replacement of the extracted tooth on the same day.
Advantages of Teeth in a Day
There are many advantages to the Teeth in a Day treatment procedure; it is known to have a better success rate, faster healing time for soft tissues, and better osseointegration between the implant and the jawbone. Moreover, there are fewer chances of infection since there aren't as many surgical steps involved and, of course, leaving with all teeth in place on the same day.
What Makes You a Candidate for the Same Day Implant?
Aside from personal preference, it is also essential to check with our dentist on what choices are appropriate for your situation while exploring tooth replacement options. Certain factors will determine your candidacy for the treatment, which include force on the tooth, bone strength, and bone depth.
Force on the tooth refers to the force that your natural teeth endure due to your natural bite. This is different for everyone and will be checked by our dentists. Bone strength refers to your bone's quality, how dense it is, and what your chances of having an infection are. If your bone density is low, you unfortunately may not qualify for same-day implants. Bone depth, on the other hand, refers to how much bone you need to have in order to be eligible for an implant. All implants are at least 0.1 cm in size. You may again have to reconsider your choices if you do not have enough bone to support the implants.
