All-on-4 vs. Regular Dentures
Plano, TX

Rapid developments and advancements in the field of restorative dentistry have given various tooth replacement options, such as removable dentures, bridges, and dental implants.

In this article, we’re going to evaluate two of the most popular tooth restoration options: the All-on-4® Treatment Concept and regular dentures.

Both, All-on-4 implants and custom-made dentures, feature prosthetic teeth that are constructed from modern porcelain material, mimicking the appearance of natural teeth. They are both great tooth replacement options since the prosthetic teeth blend seamlessly with the rest of the teeth.

There are two types of dentures: full dentures and partial dentures. While full dentures help replace a full set of teeth, partial dentures can only replace a few missing teeth.

Full dentures provide stability. However, this largely depends on the strength of the underlying tissues that it rests on. Partial dentures can either be removable or permanently fixed. While removable partial dentures are less expensive, they aren’t as durable or stable as fixed dentures.

A fixed partial denture has a bridge-like framework with ends attached to crowns that are fixed on your existing teeth. These crowns act like anchors to hold your replacement teeth properly in position. Even though removable partial dentures serve the same purpose as fixed dentures, removable dentures aren’t permanently anchored to the teeth, which impacts the level of comfort.

All-on-4 Implants

All-on-4 implants are the result of a massive breakthrough in the dental industry. These implants are probably the best option for patients who have lost most or all of their teeth to periodontal disease. Dental implants have most certainly revolutionized restorative dentistry as it is a brilliant tooth restoration procedure that offers unprecedented strength and stability.

An implant is a small titanium post that is surgically inserted in your jawbone and left to biologically integrate with your bone to form a rock solid base for prosthetic teeth.

Unlike other tooth restoration procedures, dental implants look and feel like your own teeth. The only drawback of this method is perhaps the lengthy treatment procedure that can last up to 18 months. However, All-on-4 implants compensate for this drawback by letting patients require a full set of implant-supported teeth within a few dental appointments.

This surgical procedure entails the insertion of special dental implants into certain precise locations on your jawbone at precise angles, using as few as four implants.

All-on-4 vs. Dentures

Despite the massive improvements and developments in the construction of dentures, All-on-4 implants still offer the maximum number of benefits that you can expect from a tooth replacement option.

With All-on-4 implants, you don’t have to worry about any embarrassing slippage or difficulty in talking or eating. Also, since these implants are highly sturdy and stable, they provide the same functionality as your natural teeth.

All in all, it all comes down to deciding what the best choice is for you. Consult a dentist who can help you make an informed decision for your missing teeth.
